Load up your Campers and Head to the Beach

  • Posted on May 18, 2018

Spring has sprung and summer is just around the corner. And that can mean only one thing; it’s beach season. But for those of us with campers and expedition trailers, beach season can start early (and even last all year if you want it to).

One of the benefits of having sheep camps or trailers is that you can take them wherever you like. And with our great country being so vast and diverse, particularly with regards to climate and landscape, you can experience just about every type of beach imaginable, all with some cozy home comforts in tow. And now that spring is finally here, it’s the perfect time of year to pack up your campers, hit the road and head to the beach!

In most of Florida it feels like summer all year round, making it a fantastic destination for enjoying a relaxing beach vacation. There are plenty of campgrounds for campers and trailers, where you can combine a camping trip with warm sunshine, white sandy beaches, sparkling blue water and a tropical landscape. The Florida Keys, the most southerly part of Florida and the USA, can provide the perfect location for a spring beach getaway. There are campgrounds dotted around the various Keys, with Long Key State Park offering various activities, such as kayaking, hiking and bird watching, as well as a waterside campground.

In northeastern Florida, just a few minutes from the historic city of St. Augustine, lies Anastasia State Park. This 1,600 acre park is home to a wealth of wildlife, white sand beaches and ancient dunes. There’s plenty to do, including fishing, kayaking, biking and swimming, not to mention the nature trails and a pretty campground.

With a long coastline and a range of climates, California is a fantastic place for exploring in campers and expedition trailers. At the San Elijo State Beach Campground in San Diego you can park up and camp just steps from the Pacific Ocean. Nearby there’s the market town of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, where you can dine and shop for supplies. At the beach, there are activities to keep the whole family occupied. From surfing and biking to fishing and snorkelling, there’s plenty to see and do.

Further up the coast, not far from Santa Barbara, you’ll find the beautiful Refugio State Beach, with its calmer waters and natural surroundings. Kayaking is popular at this spot, and if you’re up for more land adventures, part of the 1,200 mile California Coastal Trail runs straight through the park.

If you’re heading along the east coast, Maryland can offer natural beauty and adventure for a great camping vacation. The Assateague Island National Seashore is one stop you’re going to want to make in Maryland. There are several campgrounds on the island and there is no shortage of activities. You can rent a kayak and explore the diverse natural landscape and hidden bays from the water and get to meet the wild local horses that have roamed the island for the last 300 years.

The USA is filled with beautiful coastal locations where you can park up your campers and get out there to enjoy nature, whether you’re traveling on your own or with your family in tow.

“First, thanks for all of the help and patience in preparing to order our camp. You made sure that we really got what we wanted. From the time we picked up our camp we have really enjoyed it. It pulls great, and is easy to park and set up. This camp is so comfortable. Cooking and cleaning is easy, and everything is easy to get to. You can have people in and not feel crowded. We have camped in camp grounds, by lakes, and in the hills hunting with no problems. We like camping in it best when it is cold so we can use the wood stove. There is nothing cozier than that stove. Summer is nice to; the windows are placed so there is good ventilation. The door coming in from the front is more secure feeling. The kids are fighting over who will inherit it, but we are determined to wear it out before that happens.”
