Best Summer Trips for Family Campers

  • Posted on Jul 15, 2019

Summer is the perfect time of year for a road trip and it also happens to be one of the best times for camping. But a camping trip can be made even better with expedition trailers and campers. Combine a road trip with a camping trip to make your and your family’s summer vacation even more exciting and filled with adventure.

Lake Tahoe, California

Beautiful in winter, beautiful in summer. But in summer, there’s a whole different vibe, with plenty of watersports and hiking opportunities to keep everyone entertained. There are lots of campgrounds in the area, with Sugar Pine Point having access to two miles of shoreline but it will require reservations during the summer.

Acadia National Park, Maine

In the quiet northeastern corner of the USA, Maine is home to the stunning Acadia National Park. There are a few campgrounds within the park and several in the surrounding areas. The park is filled with pine forests and mountains, as well as being on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

Adirondack Park, New York

With over 6 million acres to explore, the Adirondack Park can be the perfect place to take your campers, sheep camps or trailers loaded with camping equipment. There are numerous campgrounds to spend the night surrounded by nature. During the day, explore the wineries, take a kayak or canoe onto the water at Saranac Lake or hike around Lake Placid.

Sawtooth National Forest, Idaho

Sprawling hundreds of thousands of acres of mountain scenery, this can be the ideal location to get away from it all with your campers and family in tow. There are lots of activities on offer, from horseback riding to hiking, biking and plenty of watersports. Plus, there are many campgrounds and even one with its own hot spring.

Carson National Forest, New Mexico

If you’re looking for wildlife, this can be a trip worth making. The forest is home to many animals, including elk, cougars and bears. There are several campgrounds in the forest but you can also set up camp anywhere you like, as long as you play by the rules.

Fall Creek Falls State Park, Tennessee

Offering beautiful scenery, waterfalls, hiking and biking trails, boating and plenty of wildlife, this can be a great way to spend your summer vacation. There are some well-serviced campgrounds and the park even has an Olympic sized swimming pool that’s perfect for cooling down on a hot summer’s day. There’s also a golf course on site and a Canopy Challenge Course through the treetops.

Bahia Honda State Park, Florida

Down in the famous Florida Keys, this beautiful state park can be the perfect location for spending a relaxing summer under the palm trees. Cool down by snorkeling in the crystal clear waters around the park or rent a kayak and paddle around to fully explore the tropical paradise. Don’t forget to take a walk to the Bahia Honda Bridge for spectacular views and sunsets. Buttonwood campground is ideal for campers, with both water electric hookups.

“First, thanks for all of the help and patience in preparing to order our camp. You made sure that we really got what we wanted. From the time we picked up our camp we have really enjoyed it. It pulls great, and is easy to park and set up. This camp is so comfortable. Cooking and cleaning is easy, and everything is easy to get to. You can have people in and not feel crowded. We have camped in camp grounds, by lakes, and in the hills hunting with no problems. We like camping in it best when it is cold so we can use the wood stove. There is nothing cozier than that stove. Summer is nice to; the windows are placed so there is good ventilation. The door coming in from the front is more secure feeling. The kids are fighting over who will inherit it, but we are determined to wear it out before that happens.”
