Beautiful Lakeside Camping Spots to take your Trailers

  • Posted on Aug 15, 2018

The United States is filled with beautiful lakes and stunning scenery, with each state having its own unique qualities. Whether you have trailers, campers or sheep camps, getting out to explore our country’s great wildernesses is a must. There’s something about camping at the edge of a lake that just makes us feel so relaxed. We can escape from our everyday lives and get back to nature. But with so many great locations out there, it can be difficult to choose just a few. So we’ve narrowed it down to some of the most beautiful and picturesque lakeside spots in America.

Lake McDonald, Glacier National Park, Montana

Lake McDonald is set in the stunning surroundings of the Glacier National Park in Montana. The park is home to numerous species of birds and mammals, including bears, wolves, lynx and golden eagles, so it can be a fantastic place for wildlife watching in their natural habitat. There’s also the beautiful mountain scenery to marvel at.

There are several campgrounds near this large lake, with Fish Creek Campground, on the western edge of the lake, having a number of campsites close to the lake, with great views. The lake can also be a great spot for fishing and there are hiking trails nearby.

Crater Lake, Crater Lake National Park, Oregon

Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States, at almost 2,000 feet deep. It’s also is home to some of America’s most beautiful scenery. Camping at Crater Lake is not the easiest thing to do, especially for trailers but there is the Mazama Campground close by and within the National Park. It has plenty of facilities for campers and is just a short distance from the lake.

There are lots of paths for hiking and biking, so it can be a good idea to take your bicycle along too.

Flaming Gorge, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Utah

One of Utah’s great fishing spots, Flaming Gorge can be a fantastic place to spend a few days in your camper. There are plenty of campgrounds both on the shores of the reservoir and on the elevated land above it, offering spectacular views.

At the Lucerne Campground there’s access to the lake if you want to fish or take a boat out for further exploration. This campground also has facilities for campers, including a general store to stock up on supplies and drinking water.

Jackson Lake, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

The stunning Grand Teton National Park is home to Jackson Lake and some of the best scenery in the country. Grand Teton can be a wonderful place to spot wildlife, including moose, elk and bison.

There are numerous camping spots throughout the park and close to Jackson Lake. For a more lakeside experience, there’s Colter Bay Campground, close to the shores of Jackson Lake. There are also plenty of activities in and around the lake, such as hiking, biking, fishing and canoeing, so there should be no shortage of things to do.

The campground at Colter Bay also has restrooms, showers and laundry services, so it can be a good spot to base yourself for a few days.

“First, thanks for all of the help and patience in preparing to order our camp. You made sure that we really got what we wanted. From the time we picked up our camp we have really enjoyed it. It pulls great, and is easy to park and set up. This camp is so comfortable. Cooking and cleaning is easy, and everything is easy to get to. You can have people in and not feel crowded. We have camped in camp grounds, by lakes, and in the hills hunting with no problems. We like camping in it best when it is cold so we can use the wood stove. There is nothing cozier than that stove. Summer is nice to; the windows are placed so there is good ventilation. The door coming in from the front is more secure feeling. The kids are fighting over who will inherit it, but we are determined to wear it out before that happens.”
